Buchanan Partners Hires Bailey Edelson as Principal
Industry veteran to add capacity to company’s real estate platform
Bethesda, MD (May 1, 2023) – Buchanan Partners LLC announced today the appointment of Bailey Edelson as principal. Edelson arrives from JBG Smith, where she served as a senior vice president overseeing development activities in Alexandria’s Potomac Yard, Washington, D.C., Arlington, and Fairfax County.

Her broad skill set and industry connections throughout the D.C. metropolitan region will help position us to take advantage of new opportunities as the real estate market continues to evolve. Edelson’s 17 years of real estate experience includes expertise in entitlement, master planning, land development, and mixed-use development across a range of product types. She has overseen the design and entitlement of over seven million square feet of mixed-use development, including the two million square feet mixed-use Innovation District in Potomac Yard. She oversaw the 15-year partnership with EYA, which included the investment in and development of more than 1,400 homes. She began her career in the investments group at the JBG Companies and brings a background in underwriting and joint venture partnerships.

Edelson is Treasurer and Board Member for the Northern Virginia Housing Alliance, a member of ULI’s Public Private Partnership Product Council and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Washington. Edelson holds a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. She graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies.
