Throughout 2017, in the Village of Friendship Heights, located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the owners of the office building at 5550 Friendship Boulevard were exploring development opportunities. Their plan was to redevelop their parcel to include a new 16-story luxury condominium building with about 100 units adjacent to the existing office building on the property. In addition to retaining the existing building, the proposed plans would preserve the abundant green space, replace the originally hardscape with all-new landscaping, improve the streetscape along the adjacent streets, enhance the environmental impact, and provide many other community benefits.
For more than a year, Maier & Warner worked alongside the development team to engage the community in an open dialogue about the future of the site with public presentations, direct mail, surveys, community events, and more. We also led an integrated marketing communications plan including direct mail, email newsletters, social media and web development.
In October 2017, following months of feedback on the proposed plans, the developers ultimately chose to put the project on pause indefinitely as they reevaluate their options.
