With Greenbelt on the short list for the new FBI headquarters, development eyes seem to be turning more than ever to Prince George’s County.
We sat in on the Washington Business Journal’s On the Road panel today at the new College Park Aviation Museum (watch the video). Panelists included Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker and University of Maryland President Wallace Loh.
They talked about the county’s lagging behind other jurisdictions when it comes to retail and residential development, highlighting Prince George’s need to embrace development. Concentrating efforts around Metro stations has been an emphasis for new transit-oriented development in other areas, a trend Metro officials want to continue.
In Prince George’s the New Carrollton Metro station is among those taking on a new shape with new office space recently delivered for state and federal workers and new retail and residential on the way by Berman Enterprises and Forest City.
