City of Rockville, Silverstone Senior Living & Watermark Retirement Communities Celebrate Grand Opening of The Seneca

$76 million community brings assisted living and memory care to the City of Rockville.

Rockville, MD (September 29, 2021) —Silverstone Senior Living and Watermark Retirement Communities executives, public officials and community members gathered today for a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception to celebrate the official grand opening of The Seneca, a brand-new assisted living and memory care community located at 55 W. Gude Drive.

The Seneca, owned by Silverstone Senior Living and operated by Watermark Retirement Communities, is a 146-unit assisted living and memory care community that welcomed its first residents last month. Construction began in September 2019.

“We are exceptionally proud of our team and partners that persevered during a pandemic to build and open a world-class community in Rockville without missing a beat,” said Bobby Zeiller, vice chairman and co-chief executive officer of Silverstone Senior Living. “Watermark has built an amazing team and we all look forward to serving this community for a very long time.”

“It’s truly a joy to bring our nearly 30 years of assisted living experience to Rockville,” said Karen Mlawsky, chief operating officer for Watermark Retirement Communities. “Our highly trained associates are here to provide best-in-class care, innovative programming and a wellness-inspired lifestyle to The Providence.”

“The City of Rockville is a wonderful place to retire,” said City of Rockville Mayor Bridget Donnell Newton. “We are thrilled to welcome new residents to our community and believe The Seneca provides another quality living option for our seniors.”

Located adjacent to King Farm, The Seneca offers assisted living, memory care and The Bridge, a neighborhood serving those with mild cognitive impairment. Residents enjoy a wide variety of amenities such as concierge services, chef-driven restaurants, courtyard dining, a landscaped serenity garden featuring a meditative labyrinth walk, art studio, fitness center, salon, and a day spa.

With a focus on residents’ health, The Seneca features innovations that reduce or prevent transmission of viruses. These include an enhanced filtration and HVAC system, cold plasma bi-polar ionization, relative humidity levels of 40-60% and touchless technology in common areas, among other measures. Through extensive research, planning and groundbreaking technology, The Seneca is built with sustainable practices to support health and wellness and the environment and has achieved LEED Silver certification with the U.S. Green Building Council.
